It's a proprietary blend, I believe it has Simcoe, Citra, Palisade, and Amarillo. Should be tasty in an IPA.

I am thinking of combining it with either Simcoe, or Galaxy in my IPA today. I am using 9lbs of Marris Otter for my base malt this time.

Just pulled it up from Northern Brewer:
Northern Brewer wrote:Typical Alpha: 10-12%. A proprietary blend of hops from HopUnion, designed for complex flavor in IPAs and similar hoppy American styles. Zythos® is strongly aromatic, with tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, and pine notes. Try it in place of Amarillo®, Sorachi Ace, or Simcoe®.
I say go for it with Galaxy and Zythos!

Roger, this recipe sounds amazing. And I've got to ask- I've seen many an IPA/APA recipe use white wheat. What's the reasoning behind this? Not complaining, because I love wheat, but just curious.

I sometimes use the same amount in some of my IPAs. At that amount, you don't really taste the wheat but it does aid in head retention.
I'm going to use some red wheat in my session IPA which should give it a slight wheat flavor in the same, small amount.

Love ´em!!! I am currenly on my fifth pound of them. I have used them lagers too with good success. Often Zythos will be the only hop in the beer

See that you are doing a whirlpool with them one of my favorite hopping methods

Like Paul says, I do it for head retention. Though I recently read where that is a myth. All I know is that is the reason I started using it in a lot of my grain bills and I like them all so it is staying in them whether it works or not.

My OG was 1.065. I hope that workhorse yeast attenuates better in this than it did in my wheat beer. I like my IPAs a little on the dry side.

Interested to see how it turns out. I've used Zythos a couple of times, and the beer was good, but the flavor was never as "amazing" as it sounds - I'd rather just use some Simcoe and Amarillo.

But maybe I simply didn't use enough of it, or it must might be my taste preference - IE I find palisade hops to be "boring".

From what I have read it is intended as an enhancer hop. To be used with tropical fruit flavor hops.

I like it paired with Amarillo better than with Galaxy. Ive used Motueka in a couple brews. It has a little lime on the back, some spice up front, so Zythos might go with that one too.
