As you may or may not be aware of at the end of April of 2012 one of the Borg members (JoeChianti) at the Mr Beer Forum site posed a question about having “Virtual Meet Ups” where we could all get together and talk (chat) about homebrewing and other beer related topics.(Is there any topic that isn’t related to beer?) Anyway after much discussion and a few beers I decided to put together a chat room that would allow anyone, n00bs and Uberbrewers alike to chat and communicate in real time.
My First effort was hosted on a website URL that hadn’t really taken off and after only a few short weeks the site ended up getting hit by SPAM so badly that I had to shut it down. I was quite bummed out about it but there was still demand for some type of chat room and I felt it was time to give the BeerBorg TapRoom a proper home with it’s own website. Adoption at first was slow since it was mostly just a handful of people on the forum that actually knew about it and this resulted in lonely brewers having to resort to talking to themselves and worse yet having to answer there own questions! This was not a proper use of the technology!
Little by little the site has been getting steadier traffic and although it may not be the most popular site on the World Wide Interwebs it does serve a purpose of letting brewers talk to each other about their beer!
Ahhhh! what could be better!
