This has been talked about a lot and I have read all the old threads. If you were going to buy a new mill right now, with some of the newer ones out there, what would be your choice?

Unless you are crushing more than once a week or so, The Barley Crusher is perfectly fine. If you have money to burn, The Monster Mill kicks butt! But you can certainly get by on spending half that much and getting a perfectly capable grain mill.

Cereal Killer from Adventures in Homebrewing
On-sale ships for $105

Bought one several years ago. Grinds ~150# / yr
The base thickness leaves something to be desired but overall the mill works very well.

First mill was the Barley Crusher.
Gap was difficult to adjust.
Hated it.
Still have it if anyone wants it for the cost of shipping it.

I've tried a number of mills and have had poor results with most.

It takes longer, but I use the mill attachment on a kitchenaid.

I've used this one for 12-13 years, still use it. Takes a little longer but I like how I can adjust the crush with a small twist of the knob.

I think I am going to buy one of these.. https://www.morebeer.com/products/malt- ... -mill.html It's a el-cheapo but so is the the one been using for a long time. Bushings are shot on my old one now and if I don't hold it just right the crush is all over the place and one of the main reasons I mill my own for consistency. Down fall on this one, only 6 lb hopper but I like taking beer breaks to refill.

I never had my own mill, but now with my LHBS out of business, I am ordering everything online and milling my grain fresh right before mashing in seems like a better idea for freshness than having it milled from the online shop.

Not sure the benefit of a 3 roller mill from a 2, but for just a couple batches a month...I would think any one of them would be fine. I have been checking this one out and thinking about it...seems to check all the boxes. Adjustable, decent size hopper and has a base for sitting on top of a bucket or mash tun. aybe I'll tell the wife as a Christmas gift. I like the look of this one:
