Have a question on how to keg your beer or just want some tips on bottling! Don't stick a cork in it until you ask the Borg!

Quick tap question

Post by berryman »

Do any of you use tap covers? I have been getting fruit flies in my spouts and come out with the pour, I don't like that. Have not noticed that other years , think this is my 3rd summer with beer on tap and are bad this year.

I never have. I've got a tap cover for my ukeg, but have yet to use it (the ukeg).

What I am talking about are the plastic/rubber slip on covers over the spout, them fruit flies have been bad this year. Think maybe because have
kraut in a bucket about 4 ft. away from my keezer.

Fruit flies have been bad here this year too, but I have no Kraut to blame it on. But they keep flying around my fermenters trying to find a way in.

I use them to keep bugs out, too. I can't say I've ever seen bugs, but it seemed like a prudent thing to do when I got a kegerator so I e used them ever since I got it.
