Imperial Yeast

Post by Dawg LB Steve »

I just woke up 3 different strains from Imperial the G03 Dieter, A01 House and A38 Juice, these were dated July of 2019. Did each of the first 2 with 3 step up starters, might leave the last at 2 steps cause the first 2 woke up in a big way. I had vigorous activity on both the G03 and the A01 within a couple hours of pitching where usually 8-12 hours before seeing that kind of activity. Liked the idea of it being 200B cells to start with but even outdated this yeast is nice. Also this can be grown and split to make that initial $10 cost go a long way.

I've had great results with Imperial yeast as well everything I've made with it has been great.

I've had less then stellar results with Gigayeast however. I might just have had bad luck, but it was bad luck more then once. Nothing "horrible" I could drink it, it just wasn't as intended.
