AIH Fall warehouse sale (up to 80% off)

Post by bpgreen »

Adventures in homebrewing (homebrewing.org) is having a fall warehouse sale.

Up to 80% off. Some items qualify for free shipping.

https://www.homebrewing.org/Fall-Wareho ... c_672.html

I bought a bunch of the 3 pack 3 oz Mangrove Jack yeasts and some universal poppets. A 3 oz packet of yeast is small, but 3 for less than a dollar? I'll probably use 4 (12g) for 5 gallon batch. At that price, maybe I'll use 6.

There are a bunch of other deals. They have ball lock kegs as low as $20.79 (loose handle or bottom). If a loose handle bothers you, they have kegs for $39. Tbe kegs are pressure tested. Note: kegs don't qualify for free shipping.

They've discounted some things even more for black Friday. They've got 4 kegs for $150, a mash and boil with pump for $259, and both of those ship free.

They dropped the price on the m44 another 10c.

They've also got "wunder" hops for $8/lb and "wunder" grains for $10. Basically grab bags, where you don't know what you're getting.

There are a lot of other things, too. I stocked up recently, so I don't need anything, but I thought I'd share.

Yeah I got 3# of mystery hops for $24.

I figure since there are guaranteed to be 8 different kind of 2oz bags per #, I'll get a nice mix to play with for a while.

https://www.homebrewing.org/Wunder-Hops ... 10683.html

The wunder grains weren't quite as interesting, since I can typically get a 10# bag of base malt from MoreBeer for not much more and I know what it is.

I wad tempted to buy some of those hops, even though I've got a freezer full already, but then I'd want to buy more things I don't need to get to the $55 free shipping.

There's also a sale on cascade and centennial floor $5/# at Yakima valley. https://yakimavalleyhops.com/products/cyber-flash-sales

Just a side note and not that it matters at all but the $5 sale at Yakima Valley Hops is for the 2019 crop and not this year. It would never stop me from buying any but I already have more than a lb of each. I hope to see even more varieties reduced before Christmas.

I'm weak. I've added to my hop stash. And I bought other things I don't need to get free shipping.

Wasn't the first time. Won't be the last time.

This came fast. A pretty good assortment. Not sure what the hell Cluster Fugget is, but only got one pack of that. The Simcoe says it's 3.3% AA, which seems... odd.

More likely 13.3 I'd guess. You got a nice package. :o

Apparently it is some kind of weird de-bittered Simcoe. "America Noble Hops". See the linkie.

I googled cluster fugget.

They spelled it fugget, but apparently, it is based on a word normally spelled with only 4 words. It's a "cluster fugget" of Pacific northwest hop varieties.

Out of curiosity, what was the shipping on those hops? I added more stuff to get free shipping.

You're much closer to them, though, so your shipping would likely be lower, anyway.

My shipping update shows that it's in Colorado, so it'll probably be here by Monday or Tuesday.

I added some bags of grain and some yeast to get free shipping.

It would have been their flat rate shipping cost if I didn't do that. I think that is $7.99.

I always typically get whatever I need to get to get free shipping, because $7.99 is half the cost of a batch of some of the beers I make. More beer, less money, that is my motto.

I've not used Noble hops as I thought they were simply hops from the US grown elsewhere but that data sheet taught me a lot. Thanks!

I got my shipment today.

The hops are in 2 oz packages. I got 5 each of Columbia, Ekuanot, Tettnanger, Mosaic, Warrior, Simcoe, and Athanum, 3 Nugget, and 2 Comet.

A few of those are new to me, but the descriptions sound good.
