The Borg is Back

Post by LouieMacGoo »

Welcome back everyone and thank you for your patience.

On Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 the hosting company alerted me to a malware attack on my hosting account and suspended the account until the malware could be removed. There was no direct threat to the BeerBorg site, content or users as the malware was detected in some old software that was still installed on the account for another website that I manage.

The malware was removed as well as old software and out of date files to help prevent this from happening again. After multiple scans from both the hosting company and myself over the last couple of days showed that there were no longer any malware or hacker threats to the account the hosting company reactivated the account at approximately 9:45am Eastern time on Sunday, Sept 30, 2018.

For those of you using Tapatalk it may take a couple of days for BeerBorg to repopulate in the application please be patient for this to get working again.

I sincerly appologize for any inconvenience this has caused and I will be working with the hosting company to improve the site's security and prevent this from happening again.

Please note that with any breach in security, even though the BeerBorg site, content or users were not directly compromised it is strongly encouraged that you change your password and make it as secure as possible.

Thanks again for you patience and for being a part of the BeerBorg Community. :thanks:

Anyone still having issues accessing the Borg on Tapatalk? My group icon is gone. In order to find it, I have to click on my inbox and and get in through an old message. If I search for Beerborg, it can't find the group.

It still doesn't show up on mine either but it is working after the work around. I think it just takes a few days to get populated.

I figured it would have repopulated, or whatever it needs to do, already.

Out of curiosity, what was the malware they identified? Did they tell you?

I ask because I recently noticed something suspicious on a computer that may have visited the site. It's probably just a coincidence, but I'm curious.
