Well, that's not the actual name but I thought is would be in bad taste to list the real name. Well, the first word is real, the rest you can just guess.
I'm off this week and didn't plan much 'honey-do's' because I need Beer-lord time. So I'm brewing 2 days this week as I'm running low. I also have some older grain and hops that I want to use up so I'm pretty much doing this with little thought or sense and just going to let it go. I also have some BRY-97 yeast that expires in December so I'll use it with a tiny bit of Hansen yeast that's left. Pretty much a franken-brew. It's a IIPA but just barely as I've brewed nothing but pales the last few months. My friends will drink it because it's free.

So,here's tomorrows brew (Friday will be my favorite Men in Black IPA)

Pretty good looking franken-brew. I've never used Vic Secret, gonna have to look that one up.

I've had the Vic Secret in a few beers now but can't say that I could pick it out or tell you anything about it. It's been in hop-heavy IPAs and IIPAs with a ton of other hops so I'm sure it contributed but I couldn't tell you what.

Enjoy your brewing days, brother (from another mother).

I know I mixed 2 yeasts (one was old) and this is a semi big beer but this sucker is still going at it 5 days later. Usually, after 3 days I see very little activity and as it's in a Better Bottle, I can still see the rockets shooting all over this beer. I've read BRY-97 is a beast but moves fast. Either way, it's finally slowing down.
As for Vic Secret, I've only used it once before, with Comet and really never got the Simcoe-lite or Galaxy-lite tastes mentioned. I'm hoping for some fruitiness but I only have 2 oz dry hop and masked with the Columbus and Crystal, but, BRY-97 is supposed to give off slight, fruity esters so I'm hoping that's what happens and that the small amount of older, Hansen yeast will let the other boil hops shine a tad bit.
Oh, and I'm hoping that the rye comes to this dance as well.
WTF do I know anyway?

Well, ya know how to keep the black tape companies in business, so there's that.

I do always find the variances in fermentations very interesting. Like you said, sometimes it goes quickly and other times it just cruises along.

I guess that is part of what makes it interesting.

I didn't realize Vic Secret was Simcoe-lite. That sounds like it would make a nice pale ale.

Why would I want simcoe or galaxy lite? I want simcoe and galaxy full on man.

Kegged this today 16 days after brewing it. It won't drop below 1.019 so I'm pretty high as I wanted to get to 1.103 or .14. So, technically not a true DIPA at 6.2%. Tastes good out the fermenter but not much nose. Gotta get that carbed to really get that (hopefully).
Also kegged the Men in Black after only 14 days. Man I like that beer!

It does taste like a DIPA but I wasn't overly impressed. A very early taste by friends showed they liked it and are looking forward to what it might become.
My Black IPA is exactly the same ABV. Maybe because they were in the keezer at the same time........?
