vacation

Post by Whamolagan »

Woohoo I am going to get to go on a a real vacation. I have not been on one in over 5 years. I am going to start in South lake tahoe and then back towards the SF bay area on the way home. I plan on hitting as many breweries as possible, and talk to the supplier for when I start my brewery. I can't wait

Very cool! I have not done any beer travel, but I visit breweries wherever I go.

Sounds like a "business expense" to me.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it in our PMs, but check out Faction in Alameda if you can. Great location near the bay and lots of good beers.

Enjoy your travels.

I just got back from a week off. I can say in complete confidence that this thing we call work is highly over-rated.

Nice! Be sure to report back on the breweries you visit--or don't, and just enjoy your vacation!

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Got back on sunday, and have been busy as hell. I went to 3 brewerys one in south tahoe (cold water brewery(sucked)they ran out of pale ale on a holiday weekend). Went to another on Sebastapol, one I had been to before but wanted to take the wife. They changed all of their beers and It was not what I expected, a little pretentious for my taste. Expensive food and sour beers(not my kind of beer). The 3rd one we went to is in Alameda, Faction brew co.. By far the best out of the 3, 20 beers on tap. it is in an abandoned airplane hangar and all of the equipment is there to be drooled on, which I did several times. I will get some photos uploaded when I got a chance.

On another note, the 4th was quite and adventure, we awoke to a juvenile black bear outside the cabin. Non threatening, but later in the day we went on a pretty grueling hike to where we thought we would go to see fireworks. We saw all kinds of bear prints and decided against walking around bear country in the dark. At dinner time the neighboring cabin yelled to us that there was a bear outside her door( she just got done grilling burgers). We look over the railing and a huge bear comes walking by like we weren't even there. Wife got a video I will try and get that up.

All in all it was a fun trip. I am glad to be home and my nephew held the fort down, and the cat missed us. Not really sure how the fish felt, but they ate when I fed them.

Oh and my wife wouldn't let me take more than one keg of beer with us, and she had to hear it, because we kicked that sucker the first night. Yup 41/2 gallons in one night among 4-5 people.

Sorry we didn't hook up. I don't get up to Faction much, but I do love their beers, the location and the equipment/hanger.

Glad to hear that you had a good trip. Looking forward to the pics and bear video!
