Yakima Chief and Hopunion merge?

Post by Dawg LB Steve »

Bought EKG hops for my stout brew Saturday and thought my LHBS change suppliers for their hops, the packaging was way different, found out that Yakima Chief and Hopunion are now one in the same company.

So the business of acquisition has not only affected breweries, it's affecting hop companies too? I expect increases in hops in 2016 anyway but it's interesting to see what else like this may happen next year.

Found out thru internet search the merger was announced 8/1/2014 and they are implementing their new packaging that just recently started changing over. From what I gathered from the website my EKG's were VERY fresh.

Thank you for your comments! We are happy that you have seen our new packing.

As you mentioned, Yakima Chief, Inc. and Hopunion LLC had a friendly merger on July 31, 2014. As a result, we are now Yakima Chief - Hopunion or YCH HOPS.

Should you have other questions. Dont hesitate to ask.

Please stay involved as much as possible on the forum, there are many questions that are raised concerning hop profiles and if they can be answered by a major player, all the better for us as home brewers.
