addition to a 90 shilling scotch ale

Post by zorak1066 »

so I'm thinking of doing NB's 90 shilling strong scotch ale. if I add .5 lb of d180 candi syrup after the first week to it... do you think that would add a nice nuance or make poopy?

I'd use D-45L in that. D-180L might be too much dark fruit if you want to keep it like a scotch ale. It would make it a lot darker in color too, more like a porter. D-90L might be ok, but I think the 45-L would be best.

I do not think it would make it "poopy", it would probably be good beer - but it won't seem as much like a scotch ale.
