Neil's in the news this week...

Here's a segment with Crispy that's a fair bit of fun...

This news segment covers the same ground, and is easier to link to the forum, but is a bit less fun...

I saw a familiar face on that video. Neil was a hoot and a very friendly and helpful host.
So swen, how is that beer?
(and glad to hear the wife is doing well too!)

A few Nashville updates from the breweries we visited...

Yazoo is moving and growing...

http://www.nashvillescene.com/food-drin ... -on-market
“We never expected we’d outgrow our first home in Marathon, and we did. And we never expected to outgrow this Gulch location, and we have. Now it is time for a location we can call home for good.
“This is exciting news for us and for fans of Yazoo beer,” says Hall. “Yazoo is preparing for a long-term future with more room to brew, create, experiment and host our friends. The time is right to find a location for us that is a permanent fit for our operations and aspirations.”
Asking $9.75 million for the property, in case any of you would like to open a brewery there... ;)

For perspective, Yazoo is the biggest brewery in Nashville by a lot, but is pretty well maxed out in the space they have. They also have the barrel facility offsite which hosts the funky brew equipment. No idea if that will all come back in-house after the new build out...

Rank Name Total Barrels Produced In 2016
1 Yazoo Brewing Co. 25,500
2 Blackstone Brewing Co. 12,624
3 Jackalope Brewing Co. 5,100

In other news, I'm fearing a bit for Ken's future... I hope he finds a new place to land.

http://www.nashvillepost.com/business/d ... r-contract
Czann's Brewing, located across Eighth Avenue, will move after the building housing its ... operation was sold in June.

Side note... bought the property and building for $1.2 million in 2010. Selling now for $9.75 million. That's a tidy profit...

Thanks for the update, I thought I had seen that they began in the Marathon building which is now (is it still) the American Pickers Nashville Store. Yep nice little profit on the property.

The Marathon factory is home to a lot of things including a small American Pickers "Antique Archaeology" store (side note: Mike Wolfe, the main guy from the show, lives out by me and is very active with our local historic society). There is a nice concert facility, several shops, and bars/restaurants. Yazoo was one of the first tenants, and after they moved out, Corsair distillery and brew lab took the brewery and taproom space.

It's a shame Czann's Brewing may be pushed out. While the beers didn't blow me away, I liked everything about Ken and his little niche. Felt like home. I wish him the best.

For 9.75 mil, they ought to let you keep everything!

That Gulch area is far and away the hottest real estate area in Nashville now, but was pretty much a warehouse area when Yazoo moved in. It's possible that someone will come in and reuse the Yazoo facility (maybe another brewery or something else), but if I had my guess, it would be that they will buy it and the next door (that's also for sale), tear it all down, and build a big a$$ condo building. Because Nashville needs more condos...

Linus won't spill, buy apparently land is already purchased. Linus became enamoured with the New Belgium campus we visited as well as Crooked Stave' s setup, so I think something like that will end up the model, with a lot of greenway, the barrel house coming back to campus and a large taproom. once done, i propose a meetup here again to break it in right... ;)

Meet up in Nashville again??? Oh hell yes. I'm in.

That New Belgium in Asheville was a really nice setup. That would be a great model to build from.

We're in too. We'll probably need a larger house than last time. Cat friendly of course. ;)
