I almost always ferment at 68* and for about $60 I got a reptile heater and a cheap controller for that. Those controllers only go down to 68* but if you turn the ferm chamber controller down to lower temps it works good. If any of that makes sense

STC-1000 and a paint can heater (programing note: if you use a freezer it will help if you put a small fan in there)
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I forgot about the fan, also I use cheap minute rice to help with moisture, and when the rice gets full of moisture you can throw it in the microwave for a couple of minutes at a time to remove the moisture. The freezers create a lot of moisture along with the fermentation process. :clink:

I was planning on going by MoreBeer tomorrow to pick up my new toy but I decided to call them to make sure it was in stock first. Nope, not in the store :(

So, I Just ordered it online and it should be here in just a few days - free shipping.
I opted for the Brewmaster version which includes a thermowell already in it so I don't have to modify the lid on this one like I did on the smaller one. I won't be using the LCD thermometer - I verified with them that I can simply remove that and insert my probe.

I have the thermometer and also don't use it but it's pretty cheap.
On my latest brew now fermenting I noticed the blowout tube is dead but opening the unit it's full of yeast love. So, I obviously need to tighten the clamps again. Just in case this happens to you after a few uses, there's a video of how to easily remedy this that can explain it more simply than I can. I also think my lid ring is a bit worn but I bought an extra when I ordered the unit so I'm good.
Can't wait to hear your experiences with it.

I''m sure I am going to love it. I've used the mini twice now + once as a bottling bucket and I love it (minus the whole stupid silicone base thing, that is).

I'll post pics of the shiny new toy when it arrives.

Thanks, I thought the neon behind it gave it a nice 'beer porn' feel

She does, but she's only 3 1/2 so it feels wrong to shoot her in this manner

I think that is Inkleg, but that's fodder for another discussion.

It does seem 'altar-like' from that POV.

Now if I could just finish work so I can start playing with it. I suppose if I weren't here in the forums, I might get done quicker...
