Another Belma Question

Post by haerbob3 »

How does the :borg: think Belma hops would work in a Pilsner?? That is what is on deck next.

How timely this question is. I've been playing around with an IPL (and using a kolsch yeast since I really can't lager) and using some of the new and different hops I've got stashed away. I searched all over and can't find much from other who've done this but did read a review on HopsDirect's website:
I have made two batches of Pilsner with Belma and have had great results. I brewed the same beer with Saaz and Hallenteur and found the Belma beer slightly crisper with citrus overtones. I used the same starting gravities and total IBU's for both. I also plan to make a Belgium tripel IPA with it.

I have a Brewdemon Evil Pilsner on the way and was planning on using Saaz, but I may reconsider.

Bob, I currently have a semi-lager fermenting that I used only Belma hops in. It is a SMaSH with Belgian 2-row, and using steam beer yeast. For bittering, it seems like it would be really clean, because it sure is clean in my Bubs' Pale Ale.

Andrew- If you wanna try some Belma, I have almost 15 oz of it left!
