I would love to try to make some bread from my grains....anyone care to share a recipe or two? Thanks.

I'll have to ask my wife what she uses but I'm sure she's found them online. I think she sometimes uses wheat instead of white flour and plays around with other things to add to it.

This is the one I know she started with but she only uses a bread machine for the dough part then takes it out, kneads it a bit more, lets it rise again and then in the oven though you can let the bread machine do all the work....

Teutonic terror - My sourdough recipe is from a Kindle booklet called "Simple Sourdough". I think it was free when I downloaded it, but normal price is only $1-$2. It starts with collecting a starter with wild yeast, by leaving a flour and water mix open on a table for a few days. In my case this was a bonus since I did that while on vacation at Lake Tahoe, so now I can boast that it has Lake Tahoe wild yeast. My modification is that after I add the starter to a mix of flour and water that has the consistency of pancake mix, and letting it sit for a few hours, I add the spent beer grains along with additional flour, kneading it in before forming the loaves for rising and baking.

I've been putting mine in the freezer with the idea that I'd bait some catfish but I haven't been fishing in months and now I'm out of space so I pitch it.

I'm curious if you could save up a bunch and re-mash it would there be enough sugars left for a wort? I mean to me the best thing to do with spent grains is to make more beer.

Anyway, it's a worm composter. I'm betting the worms will be willing to devour the grains where the other animals are turning their noses up at them. And this makes compost and compost tea almost effortlessly.

If I end up trying this thing, I'll let you all know if it works out for the grains or not..

And I'll start freezing my grains as well for future baking. Thanks for that info.

got a stand of woods behind the house...I just fertilize the bushes and trees

Compost. Either in a tumbler or dumped right in the garden during winter. It breaks down fast. The moisture is good for the tumbler.

I've seen flies fly to it on the ground, but not much animal activity.
