Another update: this is now one of my favorite brews and will do it again soon. The bourbon flavor and the malt base are blending wonderfully. My wife who is a huge Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale fan loves it. I have a Bourbon Barrel Pale Ale conditioning now that used a similar technique. I think the Bourbon Barrel brews will be part of my regular rotation from here on.

My wife is drinking this all up, so I have a second batch ready to bottle next weekend. May need to do a 5 gallon batch in the future.

Sounds like the MRS. needs a Mr. Beer kit and a bag of oak chips on the next available gift giving day.

I have a couple of cans of Winter Dark, and was searching for something to do with them, and stumbled across this recipe. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!! I can't WAIT to brew this one up! My new BrewDemon fermentor is coming soon, and this will be the first thing I make. Thanks for the recipe, doc!
