New blog entry

Post by FedoraDave »

I've posted another collection of philosophical musings on brewing over at the Borg blog. Just some thoughts from under the hat. I hope you'll take a look at it, and I'd like to add my thanks to all of you here on the Borg. The interaction we have is what inspires these thoughts, and I'm grateful to all who contribute here. Without you, I might not be thinking these thoughts and writing these things.

You speak to us 'regular' guys and connect the dots perfectly well.
Great blog post and you convey many of my own feelings. Like a chef in a kitchen with an almost unlimited supply of ingredients, we, as homebrewers, have an array of choices and options. It's on us to use them to the best of each of our abilities.
I think we do an awesome and inspiring job.

Not to be off topic, but I can't read it because of my tired eyes and the black background. I know I had to change it on the forum, but don't see how to change it where the blog is. Can someone help, I really enjoy reading Dave's words of wisdom...

If you go to your Settings menu, then Board Preferences, then 'my board style' and chose the 'Light' option. I then see black text on white background. You may have to log out and log back on after you save those settings.

Another awesome gospel and he doesn't understand why I consider him our spiritual leader. Could anyone but The Hat elevate us to the spiritual enlightenment of why we are all here and loving the fact that we are?

 You're making me blush, Birdie!

And these are just my personal discoveries. If they resonate with others, then I'm glad. I'm especially glad that I have the outlet here to put my thoughts down.

Great article Dave. As a sailor, I liked the boating metaphor. There is a similarity. I love sailing for many reasons: the involvement with nature as well as the challenge. And brewing has that too. To me though, for all the science, chemistry and biology in brewing, aero and hydrodynamics, physics in sailing, the real essence of it is magic. Whether I'm casting off and sheeting in to sail across the harbor or mashing grain into wort for beer, it's still magic. Abracadabra! Off we go! Presto! It's beer!

Never mind, there it is.

Magic. Yes, that's what brewing is. Or sailing, or getting lost in listening to or playing music. Or a whole bunch of other things that just grab us and make us glad to be alive. And isn't it wonderful that we can be part of that magic.

Well said, John.

GREAT JOB DAVE :fedora: :fedora: :fedora:

Made me realize how true it is. We bought our house a couple of years before I started to brew and yet the kitchen is prefect for brewing. I am really amazed at how this all happened before I even thought about home brewing. As you stated so well beer happens......................................
im Leben Geduld ist eine Tugend
in Brau-es ist eine Anforderung

in life patience is a virtue
in brewing it is a requirement
