#87: Spiced Winter Dark Ale

Post by swenocha »

Second to last contest LME. This one expired in July. Overshot the water by a bunch, so we're a bit thinner than anticipated, but it will be beer. Filled to slightly over the 'Q' in a Mr. B fermenter, so have taken precautions for a foamover. Only variation to the canned extract is the addition of mulling spices to the boil (pulled prior to adding the extract).

I have very much liked the two recipes I made using the MB Winter Dark as a base. This one sounds like it has potential. And it can't get much easier!

Yeah, I like that base too. It made good beer. I made something very similar to the above and liked it, I used really orangey mulling spice blend. It tasted like one of those chocolate orange eggs you bust into segments.

I used it to make an homage to Pete's Wicked Winter Brew. Added raspberry extract to it, among other things. Tasted very similar to the original. I got lots of positive feedback from those I shared it with.
