Re: How much have you brewed in 2021?
For 2020, it was down a little from 2019, about half from it looks like. Anyhow for 2020 it was 46G. Here's to a better year brewing. 01/16/2021 Brewed an Irish Red Ale. It's a 5G Extract w/steeping grains recipe from Midwest Supplies. 01/30/2021 Brewed a Nut Brown Ale. It's a 5G Extract w/steeping ...

Re: What beer/brewing stuff did Santa bring you?
I got a Midwest Supplies gift card from my youngest daughter and a 1L beer stein from my oldest daughter (stepdaughter). Both the gifts were put to good use, putting two 12oz bottles of beer in the stein and ordering 2 beer recipes from Midwest.

Re: 100 Clone Recipes
Thanks, that's what I figured, trying to reduce the darkening of the wort. I've brewed some recipes that did exactly what you said, add some LME at the beginning, add Hops, and then wait until close to the end of the boil to add all the rest of the Extract.

Re: 100 Clone Recipes
Thanks for sharing that, I've also bookmarked it. One thing that caught my eye was the Ballast Point recipes, specifically the 120+ more Extract recipes, is that they didn't add the DME (Dried Malt Extract) until there was only 15 min left. I'm sure there was a reason for adding it so late rather th...

I've also read of his brown ale recipe that his wife liked so well, but never have gotten around to brewing it yet. I definitely need to do that now.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
This morning I brewed another one of Midwest Supplies' Beer. Simply Beer recipes. It was their Brown Ale, a 5G Extract w/steeping grains recipe. I didn't quite get to the recommended Original Gravity 1.048 but read a 1.043, will that make a noticeable difference, ehh probably not. I'll see what the ...

Re: Carbonation
Yes, the Domino Dots fit fine into a 12oz. bottle, one per bottle, that's actually what I prefer to use for bottle priming. However, lately stores have been out of stock, like a lot of things, so I've had to resort back to batch priming.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
Today I brewed another one of Midwest Supplies recipes. It's the Beer. Simply Beer-Stout, a Extract w/steeping grains 5G recipe. To this day, one of the best stouts I made (I think my first, 5 gallon recipe when I got back into brewing after 20 years away from it) was an extract dry stout recipe fr...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
Okay, sounds good. I'll try to remember the different yeasts. I'm trying a Saison again, this is a session Saison and it's using the Belle Saison yeast. I might want get some of the other yeast types to have them on hand the next time I try a Saison. The Kviek strain of yeast sounds interesting, def...
