i don't bother no'mo with my refractometer.
OG readings seldom jived with the hydrometer.
imo ... drawing a hydro-sample from a 2G kit to check its FG is an unnecessary waste.
as mashani notes ... most recipes be ready to bottle after 3 weeks in the fermentor ...

Re: feedback please
fuggles be mainly an aroma hop. boiling for 20 minutes will contribute flavor more so than aroma if that's what you want.
i'd be more inclined to dry hop with the 1/2z ...

Re: Thinking of using Brown Sugar
never used it myself.
if i was going for a hint of flavor ... might try adding a little molasses to the sugar.

Re: RO Water
reportedly ... the pH of municipal water is 8.2.
it's that high to prevent damage to the pipes.

Re: Newbie Update
pretty sure clarity ferm is typically used in all-grain batches and not with extracts.
never had a need for it.
maybe b/c the combination of a hard boil ... skimming krausen ... water chemistry ... and a clarifying agent such as Irish Moss makes for no chill haze.

Re: Kitchen Faucet-to-Chiller Connector
sorry for taking so long to respond. we're re-modeling the kitchen and had to get stuff done ahead of the cabinet installers. as for the faucet; we decided to ditch it and got one better suited for my brewing needs. thanks to all who offered their help. again ... sorry for not getting back to y'all ...
