Re: Having ice cream and watching X Files.
Rubber has intrigued me. Have to watch it now. Are you a Bruce Campbell fan?
If so I have 2 suggestions:
Bubba Ho-Tep
My Name is Bruce
If your do not know who he is .... you should still see these movies.

Re: My Basic Recipe Thread
Bavarian Perle
1 Bavarian HME
.5 oz Perle
1 mr beer yeast
2T cracked coriander into the boiling water
I pitched this one a little hot (71 degrees) but that gave me great banana/colve flavors.
SWMBO has dubbed this my best beer yet!

Re: My Basic Recipe Thread
Robusterfest
1 Ocktoberfest HME
1 Robust LME
mr beer yeast
Decent after 4 weeks, but a bit watery. Next time it should get at least 1/2# DME.
Aug15th Edit:
This one needs 7-8 weeks for the cideryness to subside and the coffee flavor to shine.

My Basic Recipe Thread
Don't want to start a new thread each time I have a basic recipe.
So I will post some here.
CanGer Wheat:
1 Bavarian HME
1 Canadian HME
1 booster
2 yeast (mr beer)
Turned out good after 8 weeks, but not great.

Netflix is fantastic for watching borderline movies. Pick a bad movie? Watch a different one instead!

Non standard brew equipment you use or want?
Some things are obvious, like my LBK's for example. But we all have equipment that the new brewer might not have thought of yet. I use a digital thermometer that is meant to be stuck to a window. It records high and low temps every 24 hours. This is handy because you may check temps regularly and se...

Hello!
My name is Jim, and I brew in Ames, IA. My father-in-law got me hooked on this glorious habit by giving me some of his spare equipment and buying a few refills for me. As a science geek, I have quickly become engrossed in this hobby, and in a half a year have acquired a total of 3 LBK's. I am curre...
