Re: DIY stir plate

Two weeks in and I own 4 carboys, a refractometer, I made a wort chiller, bought 2 kegs and co2, have two beers fermenting, and am wondering whether to get another Bubbler from Northern or a bucket for my next brew and where I'm going to put it when it's done. Who knew a drunk would enjoy cooking b...

Re: steeping grain

remember guys if you can do a steep you can do a partial mash and that my friends really opens up some doors. You would be surprised at how little base malt it takes. For a MR B sized batch you can even do the mash in your oven. So the difference would be using more grains, sparging and adding your...

Re: steeping grain

Boy do I appreciate this thread. I'm right at the point where I want to start incorporating some grains through steeping. (well, at least as far as my equipment right now will allow me) Time to move forward. 1 more Mr. Beer batch and then it's time to expand my experience level a bit. God knows I've...

Whale Beer? WTF?

Iceland's Newest Beer Ingredient: Whale One brewery is experimenting with a whale of an ale—or technically, an ale of a whale. Iceland doesn't treat cetaceans the way most of the world wants them to be treated. Like Japan and Norway, Iceland has continued to hunt fin and minke whales in defiance of ...

Re: Enhancing Mr. Beer Recipes

Just did this recipe. I didn't like it very much after a month. I let it set for 2+ and it's really come along. My suggestion would be to brew it straight up first. Let it condition for 8 weeks and see what you think. Then make your adjustments. It's actually pretty decent now. Can't believe what ti...
